Issues - There are some issues with the rechargable battery and the cartridges. Some models have issue with the stylus as well. But these isssues are due to faulty models and are quite rare.

Leap Frog Leapster 2 Learning System

This is the new version of the leapster handheld system which is square in shape. The screen is much smaller than the old leapster gaming system. It comes up with internal games which are less than the older version of leapster but still are enough for the kids. 
You can add additional games with the help of cartridges. Battery cartridge is much better than the older version of the leapster. Thumbpad is also improved in comparison to the earlier version of the game.One extra feature which is added into the new leapster is that it can interface with the television screen and from there kids can play the same games in the handheld.
This handheld set can be recharged using leapster recharging station and is recommended if your child is using it quite often. You should invest into recharge station as batteries are quite expensive for the handheld system.
Issues - There is some issue with the faulty stylus for some pieces. Though it is light in weight but has some durability issues. Batteries for this version of the handheld system are more expensive than the previous version.

As you can see that older version of the leapster is much better in terms of number of games,size and performance. Leapster 2 is too small and has less games in comparison to old handheld set.
